As an Advocacy Officer for Food Policy you will be responsible for:
Support the advocacy strategy and engagement plan
- Alongside the Project Lead, develop and implement an advocacy strategy to promote the adoption of SSB tax in Indonesia
- Alongside the Project Lead, gather supporting evidences on best practices of implementing FOPL in Indonesia
- Regularly update the political mapping documents to engage the targeted stakeholder
Coalition building and networking
- Actively engage with relevant organizations, including NGOs, policymakers, and the general public, to form coalitions and alliances that support the SSB tax, FOPL and other relevant food policies .
- Foster collaboration and coordination among coalition members to amplify the advocacy efforts.
Lobbying and engagement to the related stakeholders
- Lead, help to engage with policymakers, legislators, and government officials to advocate for the adoption of the SSB tax, FOPL and other relevant food policies.
- Organize meetings, seminars, and public forums to raise awareness and build conversation.
Policy research
- Support food policy-related research i.e continuation of SSB tax or FOPL as needs arise.
- Provide updates on global best practice and evidence-based research related to SSB tax, FOPL regulation and implementation including the existing policies, legislative framework, and stakeholders involved.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Public Health / Law / Public Policy / International Development / International Relations, or similar
- Have an understanding of human nutrition, health policies, particularly related to sugar-sweetened beverages SSB tax, Front-of-Pack-Labeling (FOPL), and other relevant food policies.
- Strong understanding of the legislative process and governmental regulations, including the formulation and implementation of policies
- Familiarity with national legal frameworks and regulatory systems, particularly in relation to public health, and taxation.
- Ability to engage with policymakers, stakeholders, and civil society organizations to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes.
- Experience in drafting policy briefs, advocacy materials, and providing expert advice on policy development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and maintain awareness of the changing political and regulatory landscape.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in advocacy with the government
