Job Overview:
The Associate Structural Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing Structural (Eng) procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Structural (Eng) and Engineering.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
- Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
- Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
- Perform computer analyses of structures designed by others with guidance from Senior and PPL engineers
- Prepare design calculations as required
- Perform engineering checks of drafting
- Use of specifications when performing design calculations
- Prepare MTOs of primary structures under supervision
- Provide engineering support as required
- Assist in the preparation of subcontract documents
- Review vendor data with guidance from colleagues
Reports to: Project:Lead Engineer
Functional:Supervising Department Manager
Liaises with: Engineers, Design Supervisor, and Designers of their own discipline

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelors Degree or master's degree in engineering
- 0-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of professional engineering society as applicable
- Eager to learn
- Working knowledge of English, both oral and written
- Learn the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
- Learn design techniques and analysis methods
- HSE, TQM and cost-conscious
- Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:
- The reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards
- The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays
- The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible and desirable
- The managing or learning of future current working methods and software applications
- Accredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions
- Familiar with the use of codes and standards
