Position summary:
The Field Coordinator, Community & Smallholder Forestry will be responsible for the implementation of community forestry program for donor-supported community and smallholder forestry projects. The post holder also supports the Team Lead, Community & Smallholder Forestry Manager, and Associate Community & Smallholders Forestry in implementing all related commodities field-related field programs in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The post holder will be implementing a series of field activities in Ketapang District, West Kalimantan. The Field Coordinator will help communities to develop planning and implementation of social forestry permit, assist communities communication skill to have a dialogue with other stakeholders, especially with Forest Management Unit, Ketapang District Government, and Private sectors. The post holders will also facilitate to the plan and coordinating training related to institutional development strengthening, forest conservation and protection, develop training materials, assisting field implementation, coordinate field work with others in the farm programs team, and support farmer access to preferred markets development from the commodity source. The Field Coordinator will take care of adequate communication and information exchange on-field activities with all stakeholders at the field level.
Responsibilities:
- Assists community & smallholders forestry inclusiveness works: Implement Rainforest Alliance works and interventions related to community and smallholder forestry inclusiveness initiative at the landscape and jurisdiction level. The Field Coordinator coordinates Rainforest Alliance works in promoting Integrated Community Forest Management, covers tenure and landscape planning, governance and social organization, forest management, and enterprise development; this includes the design or review of training modules and curricula.
- Conduct engagement within activities under the project. The Field Coordinator is responsible for getting results at the field level, including coordinating and building communication with all relevant stakeholders, e.g., community, forest-farmer group, cooperative village & sub-district government, companies, CSOs/CBOs, etc.
- Support community & smallholders forestry-related research and analysis : Support activities at the field/village level that relate to program or project deliverables. The research might include governance and spatial planning;
- Report: Prepare and support periodical reports i.e. semi-annual (6 months) and annual reports for internal and external use;
- Represent Rainforest Alliance to conduct activity and coordination with key stakeholders at the sub-district level;
- Support community & smallholders forestry-related analysis and research as well as support national forestry program deliverables;
- Other duties assigned by Team Lead and Community & Smallholder Forestry Manager.

QUALIFICATION:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in forestry, agronomy, biology, NRM, or other related fields.
- 2-4 years of professional work experience with organizations and communities in Indonesia's forestry sector and project-based activities; experience with community forestry is preferable. Additional knowledge of natural rubber will be an advantage.
- Reasonable understanding of computer programs for reporting purposes (MS Office and Internet) and use of GIS tools are preferable.
- Knowledge of supply chains, forestry/farming and agriculture production and processing activities, value chains, auditing, and group events especially related to smallholder farmer producers.
- Knowledge of forestry and palm oil sustainability standards such as FSC, RSPO & ISPO is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Indonesian. Basic skill in English is a must.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and willingness and ability to spend significant periods (about 70% of working days) in remote areas, in areas with some relative hardships in living conditions.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
