Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Officer to join our growing team in Bali.
You will support Terratai to complete financial analyses on Indonesian ventures seeking investment (pre-investment), and will also play a vital role in working alongside and within our portfolio ventures to build strong accounting and financial management systems (post-investment), building the foundations to take these companies to scale.
This is a dynamic and varied role, engaging with founders and entrepreneurs within many sectors, and
across the archipelago. Our ideal candidate combines these technical skills with an ability to work well within diverse teams, communicating complex ideas clearly and mentoring others with a high degree of professionalism, but also patience and kindness.
Above all, you must share our passion for nature, and our belief in the value of fostering the next generation of sustainable businesses in Indonesia. This position reports to the Head of Investments.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing financial management systems and procedures within early-stage companies.
- Familiarity with assessing the financial situation of early-stage SMEs in Indonesia, AND/OR experience as a CFO in an SME or your own start-up.
- CPA or ACA qualification is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to live and work in Bali.
- Passion for environmental issues.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Investment :
- Conduct analyses of the financial situation of potential ventures, provide opinions, and suggest areas for improvement.
- Review existing documents related to the accounting and financial reports of the ventures and help potential ventures prepare relevant documents for due diligence.
- Review historical financials and correct/adjust historical financials to be aligned with accounting principles.
- Prepare financial models and projections by working with potential ventures.
- Provide inputs and recommendations on venture financials to the investment team.
- Review and assess historical impact data of potential ventures.
- Support market and industry research and data gathering where required.
Post-Investment :
- Be deployed to the ventures as an interim CFO/financial controller or an advisor to train and supervise and mentor the ventures finance teams.
- Develop and implement financial management systems and policies & procedures.
- Prepare financial statements and reports or support the ventures finance teams in doing so.
- Help ventures with strategic financial planning and fundraising plans.
- Help ventures manage cash flow and working capital.
- Oversee or lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
