Semaai is an Agritech startup backed by the top International and impact VCs. We are on a mission to uplift the livelihood and income of 55 million farmers in Indonesia through a highly trusted network of MSMEs(Toko Tanis) and farmer groups.

Agriculture in Indonesia is one of the biggest untapped opportunities in Asia as it is a $100 Billion economy but one of the least digitized sectors even though the country has the fourth-highest mobile user base in the world. We aim to be the first full-stack upstream solution for farmers and Agri SMEs with a focus on inputs, advisories, and agri-finance.

Job Summary:

The Category Manager plays a crucial role in driving business success by strategically managing and developing a fertilizer product category. This includes analyzing market trends, understanding customer preferences, and collaborating with various internal departments to maximize sales and profitability.

You might fit be a right fit:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven 2-3 years experience in category management, product management, or a related field especially in agriculture company.
  • In-depth understanding of the industry, market trends, and consumer behaviour related to the fertilizer product category.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans for the growth and success of the assigned product category.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology, including inventory management systems, data analytics tools, and other software used in category management.
  • Should have professional working level proficiency in English.

Your day-to-day:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth within the fertilizer category.

Assortment Planning:

  • Determine the product assortment for the fertilizer category, considering market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with vendors and negotiate terms to ensure a diverse and competitive product offering.

Inventory Management:

  • Optimize inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing overstock or stockouts.
  • Work closely with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure efficient inventory flow.

Vendor Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities to enhance profitability.

Promotions and Pricing:

  • Plan and execute promotions and pricing strategies to drive sales and meet financial targets.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and market trends to stay competitive.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of fertilizer category strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support for product launches, marketing campaigns, and promotional activities.

Performance Analysis:

  • Monitor and analyze fertilizer category performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Customer Insights:

  • Gather and analyze customer feedback and market trends to anticipate and meet customer needs.
  • Recommend product enhancements or innovations based on customer insights.
