Job Overview:
The Quality Inspector applies their conceptual knowledge of inspection and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward inspection problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Quality Inspector understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Perform field inspection activities on pre fab items & installed spools in accordance with project specification and scope as noted in the ITP. Review and familiarize with Project AFC drawing, ITP, Work Instruction, International code & Standards like SMACNA, ASHRAE, NEBB, AHRI etc, Project specification & commissioning activity relating to assigned project. Execute the inspection and Quality Control activities on site, collecting the relevant objectives proofs, ensuring monitoring and coordination of quality control activities on electrical and instrument equipment/system construction, installation and mechanical completion activities. Conducting all business activities in accordance to McDermott's Code of Business Conduct and any other governing of the company. Liaison on a daily basis with construction / client/ engineering & TPI as necessary to ensure smooth running of project
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Determine product conformity to customer specifications through daily surveillances and ITP inspection points in accordance with the Project Quality Plan
- Identify non-conformity for rectification and ensure final resolution
- Appraise product quality to determine conformity and non-conformity in accordance with the approved drawings and inspection & Test Plan; All inspection results need to be documented, and if non-conformity exists, documentation shall be raised to establish corrective action
- Coordinate interface with Operations, Certifying Authority, Client, Job Sharing personnel, and subcontractor, assuring the conformity to project specifications
- Exercise a proactive approach to the prevention of a problem by interacting with Production, Engineers, and Management personnel
- Liaise with customer representatives, ensuring product conformity and stage release for each activity denoted within the Project Quality Plan/ITP
- Executes specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities at warehouse & on site.
- Issues relevant QAN-Quality Advise Note and, when necessary, writes and sends RFI / IRN / OFI etc to QC Supervisor, where relevant raising & verifying close out of nonconformances reports. Updating corrective/ preventive action progress on a weekly basis.
- Work with all stake holders to put in place rectification of Client Site Issue, update the progress completion on a weekly basis.
- Complete all activities relating to HVAC pre fabrication / installation in line with project procedures / MS / WI & ITP requirements, construction & design drawings.
- Carry out regular surveillance visits to work site & prefabrication area be this internally at PTMI or at subcontract organization.
- Work with engineering & pre commissioning teams in readiness for system integration testing
- Advise Mechanical Completion Team to any updates associated with as built drawings (if necessary).
- Perform punch-listing operations during MC-ITR (Mechanical Completion-Inspection & Test Records).
- Performs visual inspections, dimensional test, checks rating and material for connection.
- Work with Mechanical Completion team to performs test functional instruments.
- Verify any special processes are carried out in alignment with project requirements and the relevant worker's qualifications.
- Witness all function tests, controls and inspections carried out.
- Check conformity with the Quality Control Plan, obtain the relevant documentation, and check procedures and equipment to be used in tests, controls and inspections, manage documents certifying test, controls and inspections.
- Ensure there is correct implementation of approved inspection Test Plan.
- Endorse all Inspection & Test Records
- Raise system handover documentation & IRNs as items are completed
- Carry out daily & weekly reporting to construction quality manager
- Ensure installation of Electrical Apparatus, instruments are complying with Hazardous Area Classification.
- Coordination, monitoring, reporting & technical assistance during fabrication & installation activities.
- Constant coordination with other engineering units and all relevant dept involved specially, structure, piping department for relocation need.
- Preparation of work method statement.
- QA/QC Inspection and documentation.
- Perform monitoring and inspection of the following installation:
- Confirm relevant Support/Bracket/Stanchions are in correct location as per construction drawings
- Carry out regular coordination with Client as well as commissioning team for any nonconformance found.
- Attend regular basis of HVAC construction and Quality meeting with Client, and relevant PMT team members.
- High standard of safe working practice, quality and productivity as well as compliance with the code of business conduct.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- High school diploma or degree in relevant field of study
- 5+ years Quality control or related experience in HVAC with welding / fabrication an advantage
- Proficient in the use of computer and Microsoft programs
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- Apprenticeship or experience in work related to mechanical engineering, oil and gas related experience preferred but not essential
