Influences Product Development Lead(s) in Indonesia and remains hands-on with regards to administrative oversight and directional oversight to Product Development Team through the Sr. Ops Manager / Ops Manager / Asst. Ops Manager
Mentors Development Teams throughout Indonesia
Promotes a positive environment and a high level of performance, collaborative OneNB Teamwork.
Reports to Head of Development and collaborates with Running and Lifestyle Dev Leads for alignment on NB Asia Regional and Global direction.
Collaborates with HQ Category Directors and Developers to ensure the best product outcomes. Can confidently communicate issues and solutions to those teams.
Possesses a multi-categorical product skillset to build knowledge strength in the Product Creation of the Brand by PD & factory teams on Performance and Lifestyle Product
Practices and ensures Quality at Every Touch Point: Prototypes that meet the customer needs as defined during Product Validation leading to clear and concise product specifications.Development Best Practices:
Helps to drive Material Direction with Senior Leadership in Indonesia and Materials team so clarity exists and we can balance the needs of Development with the needs of Lead Times
Works with DevHQ and Senior leaders in Indonesia to maintain Development Best Practices on product builds at Tech Pack in so we can hit the aesthetics, business, and timelines on every product developedTech Pack In:
Enhances and adds value to the original Design Intent and provides suggestions on construction, cost saving, and alternative solutions aligned with the Product Brief and Brand & Category Best Practices.
Partners & collaborates with all external and internal departments to ensure the product is sound aesthetically, technically and financially.
Reviews the technical package thoroughly, raises questions & concerns, and proposes alternative solutions which provide a balanced view on quality, delivery and cost within 24-48hrs of receipt. Ensures that the key attributes of the product (performance, fit, comfort, aesthetics, technical features) are clearly understood and works with the factory to execute against those.
Reviews both shell patterns and Outsole CAD revisions against Best Practices and Guidelines, oversees file revision management, and ensures requested US amendments are followed.Development Phase Review:
Ensures Quality of Execution: On time and accurate execution of Prototype Samples.
Provides guidance and oversight to partner suppliers in the development process and acts as an effective brand advocate. Effectively aids communication -and mediation- of issues and concerns raised by the suppliers.
Leads the product creation process from initial concept through product confirmation. Actively engage throughout the commercialization stages to ensure product integrity is maintained.
Ensures all development timelines are maintained and that ALL samples are completed and sent out on time with high quality for every product milestone and key US & International Meetings including Sales Samples. Knows the forecast (or working forecast assumption) and introduction date and keeps visibility to those when driving timelines and price deadlines with the factories.
Ensures that both uppers and bottoms are engineered to the required performance & quality standards of the category.
Feedback to Development Best Practice Owner and Tooling Standards owner critical to help start next project in a better place
Ensures Materials and processes are validated for Physical standards, Performance Attributes & Restrictive Substances.
Proactively provides timely recommendations when cost, engineering, construction, or manufacturability are a concern.
Understands Lean principles and drives concepts to support the Lean initiatives inside each T1 through product direction decisionsCommercialization and Production:
Attends key Commercialization Meetings identified prior to season start with goal to maintain Development direction for product.
Production visits with Senior Ops Manager/Ops Manager/Asst. Ops Manager helping to guide product eye as developed all productAttributes:
Understands the essence of the product, the category as well as the target end-consumer/athlete.
Maintains good working relationships with both T1 and T2 suppliers while ensuring on time project management.
Acts as the Brand Advocate and maintains a high level of professionalism when interacting with both internal and external team members.Future View for the company:
Flags and provides preliminary documentation of new manufacturing techniques and new processes. Works with Process Engineers to refine and finalize the documentation for production.
Conduct Development Reviews at the 3 key Development Centers driving Indonesia development (MPI, PWI, and DIAI more potentially to come later)
Flex Supply Chain: Be part of the team focusing on matching product transferred from multiple T1s worldwide
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in product design, engineering, manufacturing and/or operations.
At least 10 years of relevant work in the footwear industry.
Proven team management experience of 2-3 direct reports over a 4 year period.
Ability to influence groups of people as we run a matrix organization
Fluent in English, written and verbal communication skills.
High proficiency on a PC with knowledge of MS Office applications and Adobe products.
Project management and time management skills.
Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
Commanding working knowledge of athletic footwear development, fit, upper patterns, and outsole creation as well as component processes and material creation (i.e. leather, textile, and synthetics).
Ability to work with people across multiple disciplines at all levels within the company
Ability to travel to the USA and other Asia countries as needed.
