As a CMF Designer, you will be responsible for developing color, material, and finish strategies for our smartphone lines, aligning them with market trends and user preferences. You will work closely with both local and Chinese design teams to conceptualize and execute CMF designs that elevate the brand's appeal. This role welcomes professionals from the mobile phone industry as well as those with experience in fashion retail, where expertise in trends, materials, and design can offer a fresh perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- CMF Design Creation: Design and develop innovative CMF solutions for mobile phones, tailored to the market positioning and target users of various smartphone series.
- Renderings and Design Communication: Produce high-quality CMF renderings, clearly expressing colors, textures, lighting effects, and the design rationale behind each concept.
- Market Research & Insights: Understand local design preferences, market trends, and competitive design styles. Incorporate these insights into CMF design strategies while maintaining a unique and compelling brand identity.
- Collaboration & Sampling: Work closely with Chinese CMF designers and manufacturing teams to ensure the sampling process aligns with your design vision. Monitor sampling details and quality to achieve the desired design outcome in physical samples.
- Design Storytelling: Communicate design concepts effectively, both visually and verbally, crafting compelling design stories that reflect the brand's core values and user experience.
- Cross-Cultural Research: Travel to Southeast Asian countries to study and analyze design trends and user preferences, integrating fashionable and artistic elements from other industries-including fashion retail-into the CMF designs.
Qualifications:
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of design logic and trends in the mobile phone or fashion retail industries, with a clear perspective on how local users perceive different brand design styles.
- Design Software Expertise: Proficient in using design software to create detailed and aesthetically appealing renderings, accurately conveying colors, materials, textures, and lighting effects.
- Materials & Processes Expertise: In-depth knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes used in the mobile phone or fashion retail industries, with the ability to incorporate these effectively into designs.
- Creative Transformation: Ability to seamlessly integrate user-preferred elements and artistic influences from other industries into mobile phone or fashion-related designs, creating CMF solutions that feel organic and user-loved.
- Innovation & Empathy: Strong creative thinking with the ability to empathize with users, understanding their emotions and desires to deliver designs that resonate emotionally and functionally.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and visual communication skills, able to clearly convey design concepts and details to both local and Chinese teams, ensuring alignment and successful execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- English proficiency is required.
- Experience in the fashion retail industry or mobile phone industry is a plus.
- Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia to explore and understand design trends and cultural influences.
