Supervisor – Garden & Landscaping

Some of your duties will include:

Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, design, and health of the green spaces within the mining site, including gardens, lawns, ornamental landscaping, and vegetation management. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all landscaped areas are visually appealing, ecologically sound, and safe for employees and visitors. You will coordinate landscaping activities, manage a team of gardeners, and work closely with the Facilities & Housekeeping Department to align landscaping projects with the overall site maintenance objectives.

Team Supervision & Management: Lead and supervise the gardening team, including scheduling, training, and monitoring work quality; Assign daily tasks and provide guidance on landscaping best practices; Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during landscaping activities.

Garden & Landscaping Maintenance: Oversee the planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, and pest control of all landscaped areas Implement seasonal care plans for gardens and lawns, including soil preparation, mulching, and aeration; Planning, maintaining existing plant at Nursery area for garden rejuvenation plan; Coordinate waste management in green spaces, ensuring efficient disposal or composting of organic waste.

Design & Aesthetic Planning: Assist in the design and development of new landscape areas and revitalization of existing ones; Work with Facilities Management to align landscape aesthetics with company image and site environment; Suggest improvements for existing green areas and propose sustainable landscaping practices.

Inventory & Budget Management: Monitor and manage landscaping supplies and equipment, ensuring tools are well-maintained and available for daily use; Prepare and oversee the landscaping budget, working to maximize resources and maintain cost efficiency; Order and maintain inventory of plants, seeds, fertilizers, and other required materials.

Environmental Compliance & Sustainability: Promote and implement environmentally sustainable practices in landscaping and maintenance; Coordinate with environmental compliance teams to ensure adherence to ecological standards, especially regarding native plant usage and habitat preservation; Document and report on the impact of landscaping activities on local ecology.

Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce health and safety guidelines among team members and ensure all activities comply with site policies; Identify and mitigate risks in landscaping activities, particularly regarding equipment use and chemical handling.

What skills and experience do you need

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscaping, Environmental Science, or a related field. Relevant certification in horticulture or landscaping management is advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in landscaping, gardening, or horticulture, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role. Prior experience in an industrial, remote, or mining environment is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, landscaping techniques, and ecological principles; Ability to manage a team effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines; Proficiency in budgeting and managing landscaping materials and resources; Familiarity with sustainable landscaping practices and native vegetation of the region; Basic understanding of health and safety regulations related to landscaping activities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, perform physical labor, and handle landscaping equipment.
• Certification in sustainable landscaping or a similar credential is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate
