Job Summary:
The candidate will be responsible for suppliers in qualifying/sustaining suppliers and products to meet customers (internal/external) needs for UCTM (Mainly Malaysia & SEA). In addition, the candidate will be required to have quality management knowledge, problem solving, project management and communication skills to perform supplier assessment (quality/technical), qualification, quality performance monitoring, and quality improvement activities. The candidate will be responsible for conducting supplier mfg. process audits to ensure manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner. Project management duties are a must and include working with cross-functional teams consisting of supply chain management, manufacturing, and suppliers to provide feedback and requirements during new product/supplier qualification through to production release.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires a medium/high skilled individual with knowledge in mechanical parts for semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment or components. Specific technical knowledge required in the following areas:
Provides expertise in manufacturing processes for mechanical components such as structural frame, sheet metals, precise machined parts and etc. Ensures suppliers manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner; develops and audits quality control systems. Conduct supplier technical/quality process audit, risk assessments and drives closure on improvement actions. Conducts supplier assessments (with emphasis on manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems) of new and existing suppliers. Review supplier quality score for strategic suppliers periodically and drive improvement. Drive failure analysis on non-conformance materials caused by suppliers and closure on non-conformance report. Drive first article qualification at supplier by providing technical expertise. Manages supplier or products qualification projects and provide regular update to management. Provide supplier quality executive summary on a regular basis to SMT managementInterface with internal customer on quality issues and actively participate in failure analysis and corrective action efforts. Provide technical/quality trainings to suppliers. Will require travel to suppliers for on-site audit and meetings. (
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- CWI certified
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools
- Experience or knowledge of standard fabrication practices of structural frame, sheet metal fabrication, precision machining process.
- Expertise on mechanical drawing interpretation using ASME Y14.5 (Dimensioning & Tolerance)
- Hands on experience on supplier assessment, qualification, audit and quality management
- Strong passion and an aptitude for problem solving in a collaborative team environment is required.
- Ability for good written and verbal communication of technical content in English is required.
- Project management skills is required.
- Hands on knowledge of problem solving methodologies (8D, 5 why's, DOE etc.) and quality engineering experience is required.
- Working knowledge of SPC programs such as Minitab is desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Software Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial engineering.
- ASQ CQA, CQT or CQE certification preferred
- Certified Welding Engineering is mandatory
